Joanna Newsom Releasing "What We Have Known" Single
Drag City is about to pull off an unusual marketing move in regard to Joanna Newsom. The label is releasing her song “What We Have Known” as a limited edition 12-inch single, which will contain the song on one side and an etching on the other. There will be just 700 copies of this release. The track originally appeared on Newsom’s 2004 CD single “Sprout and the Bean,” so it’s strange that it’s suddenly being released in this format. There’s a Civil War theme to the packaging—that’s the front cover of the sleeve decorating this post, which was designed by Have One On Me designer Becca Mann. The single will be released on July 19, and you’ll no doubt have to move fast to get a copy. [via FACT]
