Fox has entered a pilot production commitment for the next J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman series. Deadline reports that the new show was picked up after a “competitive situation” with other interested networks.
The currently untitled series is described as a futuristic buddy cop show set in the near future, where LAPD police officers are assigned androids with human-like appearances as partners. Warner Bros. TV will be co-producing the series with Abrams’ Bad Robot, which is also producing the new NBC drama Revolution and CBS’s upcoming Person Of Interest.
Interestingly, the show’s premise of human-like androids is similar to a script that writers Howard Gordon and Josh Friedman recently sold to NBC, with 20th Century Fox producing.
