Jimmy Page has decided to get in on the rock star autobiography game with a new 500-page book that will retail for almost $700 (445 British pounds). For that kind of money, you'd expect to get some insight into the band, whether Jimmy really did make a deal with the devil, or if he'll apologize for that album with David Coverdale. But no: the coffee table book will instead be full of pictures and be autographed by Page himself. He says that this is as close to an autobiography as he'll ever get, and he's limiting the run to 2,500 copies. So get on this, I guess. If you've got money to blow and would like to look at pictures of Jimmy Page. [Guardian]

insane. Are 2,500 people going to buy it?
i'll wait for the torrented PDF, thanks.
But will the torrent be autographed?
£445 ?......how vulgar......Keith Richards' autobiography comes out in October, roughly £25, and you can bet it will be a great read, not just photos, like Pagey's is.

The Genesis publication books are all in that price range. I purchased 2 copies today as they have a pay monthly scheme. I doubt there's 2448 remaining.
Ian Martin
Ian Martin is absolutely right. All Genesis books are in that price range because they are literally works of art. They're hand-bound and produced with great care and attention. "Exile," which was about the summer that the Stones spent in France, resulting in the album "Exile on Main Street, was produced by Genesis and originally had a price tag of 375 pounds. It has since gone for over 4000 USD--second hand. (That's even if you're lucky enough to find it.) These books are investments and worth the price. Lastly, this is is Jimmy Page's story and he can choose to tell it any way he likes. He's opted to provide his fans with a beautiful photographic essay that will not collect dust on a bookshelf but will eventually be worth several times what they paid for it. That's a major offering from an artist who values his true fans--the ones that couldn't care less about ex-wives and sordid stories. They care about the music and that's what this book is about.
