Jimmy Page not so sure about touring without Robert Plant

In your daily “Holy Shit! Led Zeppelin might go on tour, but might not” news: despite recent reports that the band is considering going on tour sans Robert Plant (with the dude from Alter Bridge), British gossip newsletter Popbitch has Jimmy Page saying the reunion couldn’t happen without Plant:

"Page hasn't quite been singing from the same songsheet. He got talking to a fan last week and said that he'd never tour without Robert Plant."

So, Page may or may not have told a fan he wouldn’t tour without Plant. But he said that when he took David Coverdale under his flamed shirt sleeve, so all bets are off. I think ultimately the band will return to touring (with or without Plant) because Jimmy Page has never been convinced that the band was anyone’s but his own. But I shudder to think the guy from Alter Bridge would be considered. Was this guy not available? [Popbitch via Idolator]

It's not Zeppelin if there's no Robert Plant. Just as it's not Zeppelin if John Bonham.

Robert should not stop Jimmy, JPJ, and Jason from touring.
But its imparative tht they have new material. Maybe it should be an ongoing project with different singers at different time? Why commit?

I feel Jimmy Page knows it would not be the same without Robert, as do alot of other people.

They need a new singer, Plant can't hit half the notes he used too, just listen to anything he's done in the last few years. Lots of back up, and few high notes.

I wish that Jimmy, JPJ and Jason Bonham would just go out there and do it...do anything, get a black singer and do blues, or take a cue from John Paul Jones solo albums -you get a sense where that 5th element comes from that tended to round out the zeppelin sound when you listen to Jones's material- he's doing some stellar stuff...
I don't get it, but maybe when you are in Led Zeppelin, which none of us are, you know what "it" ultimately was when you were in "it". My take? I never liked Presence much or In Through the Out Door, so I don't subscribe to the "everything marked zeppelin in it's original form", in the fans eyes, is all that sacred...music evolves, de-evolves and it's those willing to take risks and not worry about formula that end up creating good stuff, or bad stuff. Bach had high moments, great creativity, and dull moments, but he still pumped out the goods. I just would rather hear and see Page, Jones and even Bonham's son do something new as opposed to all the ring tones, t.v. commercials and greatest hits they can provide. I ask Plant, or Page, when you mess with the formula in those ways, you are really messing with the formula. Nothing stops you guys from playing what or where you want to how many people...you've got carte blanc on the world stage and all we want to do is witness it....I hope they all reconsider, and sooner than later...but all this talk of integrity, formula, keeping their place in history unfettered, it's just nonsense...Page and Bonham were junkies, their formula was dying back in '75, '76, '77 when Page was too smacked up to do a decent solo or write amazing material. Even the late great Bonham said their last two efforts were weak, and promised to bash a heavy album out after their Knebworth revival. Personally, I have no hope of a tour or album, but I want it...

I agree wholeheartedly with every word craymoor said!!! Brilliant & insightful commenting on Craymoor's part.
Maybe Jimmy age should find a young musically talented woman to tour with; Allison Krause hasn't hurt Robert Plant's appeal.
