Jimi Hendrix Writes Home

This is pretty cool. Shortly after forming The Jimi Hendrix Experience, the guitarist wrote to his father back home in Seattle, Wash. The postcard is dated October 1966, and Jimi tells his dad that in two months he'll release a song called "Hey Joe." Without delay, "Joe" made its UK debut Dec. 16 of the same year. "We're playing around london now. That's where I'm staying these days," Hendrix writes. "I think things are getting a little Better," he concludes, only to have his hunch confirmed when 1967 saw his first LP, Are You Experienced?, blow up to international acclaim. [LettersOfNote]
