Jim Reid Releasing New Single
After an extended, low-key existence, Jim Reid (better known as half of the U.K.s original bad-boy brother combo The Jesus and Mary Chain) is gearing up for a busy schedule in the coming months. Hes working on a full-length solo project with former Lush bassist Phil King, and set to release the single Dead End Kids on July 17 (Transistor). The single will include a cover of Dylans If You Gotta Go (a song which most of you probably wont remember being previously covered by the Flying Burrito Brothers on 1970s Burrito Deluxe).
Thats hardly the only thing Reid has on his plate at the moment though. Rhino is set to reissue the Jesus and Mary Chain catalogue (excluding their 1998 Sub Pop release Munki) and his band Freeheat (with former Mary Chain-er Ben Lurie and ex-Gun Club bassist Romi Mori) released the half live, half studio album Back on the Water June 13. Finally. the July issue of Mojo is set to include a Beatles tribute CD (recreating Revolver for its 40th anniversary) on which Reid will take a swing at And Your Bird Can Sing.
