Jim Jarmusch Curating ATP NY, More Acts Confirmed

The ATP organization has announced further details of its New York incarnation for this year. Anyone who went to ATP NY in 2009 can’t have failed to see Jim Jarmusch walking around the site, so he’s been invited to curate a day of the festival this year. The director will pull together the lineup for the Sunday of the event, which takes place on Labor Day weekend between September 3-5.

Raekwon, Fucked Up, Girls, Vivian Girls and the Brian Jonestown Massacre are among the acts Jarmusch has hand picked to play, and they've been added to a bill which already includes Iggy and the Stooges, Mudhoney, Sleep and the Scientists. Other acts announced today include Sonic Youth, The Breeders and Fuck Buttons.

For more information about the event, head over to the ATP website, which includes the full lineup so far, and information on how to purchase tickets and accommodation. Naturally, more acts will be added in the coming months, but the Criterion Collection are already confirmed to come back and curate another cinema stage. Looks unmissable already.

If not the best of the silver-haired film directors who emerged in the 1980s, certainly in the top 3.

After Coffee & Cigarettes and Broken Flowers, I thought Jarmusch might have fallen off for good. But he won me back, in a big way, with The Limits of Control. And now this! Jarmusch is the man. I'm sorry I ever doubted him.
