Rock-critic Jim DeRogatis may be forced to testify at R. Kelly trial

Famous Chicago Sun-Times rock critic Jim DeRogatis, who wrote the first story about Kelly’s sexual indiscretions with underage girls way back in 2000, and turned over the famous sex tape to police in 2002, may be forced to testify on behalf of the defense in the R. Kelly sex tape case.

The defense wants to subpoena DeRogatis because they feel he may have tainted witnesses by viewing a copy of the tape with a potential witness in the case after he supposedly turned over his only copy to police.

The Chicago Sun Times plans to fight the subpoena, citing reporter’s privilege. Apparently the defense plans to use the whole “tape isn’t real” defense in order to get Kelly off, and the DeRogatis subpoena is part of that. [Daily Swarm]
