Raven-haired singer/songwriter Jesse Sykes is taking her haunting croak and ambient bog-twang band The Sweet Hereafter on the road this July and August. Each of Sykes' records, including the recent Like, Love, Lust and the Open Halls of the Soul, is impossibly gorgeous in that disintegrating ol' rocking chair kind of way, and her band (including ex-Whiskeytown guitarist Phil Wandscher) more than fleshes out the songs live. You'll find a full list o' dates after the jump.

Having never seen a picture or heard the music, I thought "Jesse Sykes" was a dude right up to the point I saw her open for Sparklehorse. She's really good live. The Bordello here in L.A. will be a perfect venue for her smoky songs.
