Jenny Lewis preps second solo LP, makes friends

Jenny Lewis is at work on a new solo album, and according to early reports, the operative word is – well, it’s not “solo.” Entertainment Weekly has the scoop, and the scoop has Lewis being joined in the studio by a plethora of guest vocalists and collaborators, ranging from Johnathan Rice to Zooey Deschanel to Chris Robinson to M. Ward to – consider us intrigued – Elvis Costello.

They further report that “A source who has heard the recordings said: ‘It all sounds super natural, nice, and simple. Like it doesn't belong in any decade. It's just timeless.’" Compared to the bad Fleetwood Mac covers band into which Rilo Kiley seems aggressively determined to morph, “timeless” sounds like a divergence worthy of our anticipation. I didn't think the last Rilo Kiley was so bad... but I'm definitely way more excited about this.
