Via NMEWow, this rumor mill has been swirling since I was in college. And I'm getting old. But apparently the long-whispered-about Jeff Buckley biopic is taking steps towards becoming reality. Mary Guibert, Jeff's mother, is moving ahead with plans for a big-screener named Mystery White Boy. (Earlier rumors had the title as Dream Brother, a la David Browne's 2001 bio on Jeff and his famous father.) Guibert is pushing Sony to allow unreleased music of Jeff's to be included in the film; and she still wants Brad Pitt involved. In some way. She clears up that it wasn't always a lock that he was set to play the title role. Instead, Pitt has expressed interest in at least helping produce the film, since he remains a big fan of Jeff. If all goes as planned this time around, you can expect the movie in theaters in 2008.
