Does hip-hop have a place at England’s Glastonbury Festival? Glastonbury is one of the world’s largest festivals, and the organizers pride themselves on the diversity of its lineup. But controversy broke out when it was announced that Jay-Z would be one of this year’s headline acts. Noel Gallagher was particularly vocal, stating: “I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.” Noel doesn't have much love for hip-hop. He's previously declared that it's "a fake form of music" and suggested rappers should "give it a rest you bunch of idiots." Ouch.Now Jay-Z has hit back at Noel, justifying his place on a main stage that will also play host to Leonard Cohen, the Verve, and the Gossip. “We don’t play guitars, Noel, but hip-hop has put in its work like any other form of music. This headline show is just a natural progression. Rap music is still evolving.” Perhaps an on-stage showdown between the pair could resolve the issue?
