Jay-Z has announced plans for a huge benefit concert at Madison Square Garden on September 11. The hip-hop star will perform at the venue on the same day that his hotly anticipated album The Blueprint 3 is released, and all the proceeds from the show will go to the New York Police and Fire Widows and Children's Benefit Fund.
The show marks the eighth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and is sure to be an emotional affair. "This charity and concert encompass the true spirit of New York City," Jay-Z said. "We are asking everyone to 'answer the call' and support and honor the families of those that lost their lives in the line of duty."
Fuse will also broadcast the show, which is billed as ‘Fuse Presents Jay-Z Live from Madison Square Garden: Answer the Call.’ Jay-Z concluded his statement by saying: "There was true camaraderie and resiliency that this city showed the world in 2001, and we continue that today by taking care of our own."
