Jay-Z Rumored to Have Signed Sugababes to American Record Deal

Danity Kane and Pussycat Dolls, the most popular American girl groups, don't really seem to cut it when compared to the other female pop acts in the western world. The American people deserve better, and Jay-Z might think so.

According to site That Grape Juice, Sugababes have signed a deal with Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records. The site also reports that Sugababes' UK contract still rests with Island Record.

Neither the label nor representatives for the band have confirmed this, so it remains a rumor, though a hopeful one for U.S. FM radio airwaves. Of course, the Sugabages aren't Girls Aloud or anything, but unlike Danity Kane and Pussycat Dolls, their appeal seems to extend beyond the ears of emotionally stunted 25-year-old girls. That's not to say though, that I've forgiven them for that lame cover of Adina Howard's "Freak Like Me."

About six or seven years too late with this one. Still a decent group though, even if their current singles aren't up to par with their previous work. I'd still take them over most North American pop acts though.

I wish he would've signed Girls Aloud instead. I'm not really into pop music, but I love me some Girls Aloud and they're long overdue on making their American debut.

I agree. If he was going to sign a girl group, it should have been Girls Aloud. Sugababes are good, too, but I liked them better when Mutya Buena was still in the group.
