After unveiling the cover art and track listing for Watch The Throne earlier this week, Jay-Z has continued the promotion for his joint album with Kanye West by holding a listening session last night. Jay apparently played more than a dozen tracks, two of which featured Odd Future crooner Frank Ocean, and revealed that the album was completed in three stages. Hov also said that he doesn't necessarily want to drop an official single from the album. Although, he then said he wants to shoot a video for "Lift Off," which features his wife, Beyonce. On top of that, the Jigga man also revealed that he has recorded two tracks for his next album. Ocean is slated to appear on one of those, too.
Update: More reports, and thus more details, have started showing up online regarding the Watch The Throne listening session.
MTV's RapFix is reporting that one standout track features Jay and Yeezy (the latter of whom apparently holds his own across the record) trading bars over an Otis Redding-sampling beat. Another highlight came when Jay played a song that had the two MCs rapping verses directed at their unborn sons. Also, the aforementioned Beyonce-assisted "Lift Off," has been described as sounding "like it was tailor-made to be performed in large stadiums." You can read the entire rundown here.
Watch The Throne is tentatively due out Aug. 2.
