Jay-Z Replaces Beastie Boys at All Points West

The Beastie Boys seemed to be the perfect headliner for the second annual incarnation of the All Points West festival. But Adam Yauch’s tumor has forced them to cancel the show, causing Jay-Z to step up as their replacement. This will be the first time the hip-hop star has played a major American festival.

Jay-Z caused controversy when he headlined the Glastonbury Festival in the U.K. in 2008, although he ultimately proved that he was highly suited to the job. He will play after the indie-centric sounds of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vampire Weekend and the National on Friday July 31.

Various one-day and three-day tickets for the festival are still on sale here, and the organizers have quickly produced a new poster for the event (below). Jay-Z’s forthcoming The Blueprint 3 features a surprise guest collaboration from MGMT, who also play All Points West.
