As covered previously this week on Prefix, Jay-Z has been making the media rounds in support of his new book Decoded. One of these stops was with Terry Gross on NPR's "Fresh Air." Unlike the television interviews, Gross' interview is almost an hour long and discusses extensively Hova's background coming out of Marcy Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, his experience selling crack and eventual rise to fame as a rapper.
While Jay-Z gets uncharacteristically candid with Gross, the interview is worth a listen simply for the hilariously, awkward moment when Terry Gross asks the question, " Can you tell me about the name 'Hova'?"
