Jay-Z leaves Def Jam

Jay-Z is stepping down as president of Def Jam at the end of this year. Although no reason was given for his departure,  earlier this month it was being reported that both parties were in disagreement on how much he should be compensated for running the label.

“Now it’s time for me to take on new challenges. I am pleased to have had the opportunity to build upon the Def Jam legacy,” he said in a statement.

So what's next for the man who topped Forbes' richest rapper list? Hotels?

I accidentaly read the last sentence before the jump as "compensated for ruining the label." I'm not implying that he did, but I'm amused nonetheless.

I'm not sure what I'd give him as a grade for his job as Def Jam head honcho. Kanye and Rihanna did well, but a lot of other artists didn't sell crapola then again all of the majors have had a rough run the last few years.
