
While he's no Justin Bieber, Jay-Z will be releasing his own memoir soon. Titled Decoder, the book promises to be an in-depth look at one of hip-hop's most notable voices. It will see its release Nov. 16, but in the craziest internet-aided ad campaign this side of Trent Reznor, fans can check out pages of the book starting now.
In partnership with Microsoft's normally useless search engine Bing, physical pages of Jigga's book will be placed in mystery locations around the entire freaking world, but mostly in the New York area. Those interested can find clues to where the pages are through using Bing and its other content, like Bing Maps and Bing Entertainment. Apparently the pages will have codes that finders can submit online and via text, entering them into drawings to win autographed copies of the pages, as well as tickets to see Jay-Z and, um, Coldplay live in concert.
It's an interesting, immersive campaign for sure, one that interestingly blends together real life with online activity, even if it's kind of high-concept and bloated. Ah well, if nothing else, Hov has done the seemingly impossible: bring traffic from Google to Bing. [Mashable]
