While he's merely teasing us at this point, Jay-Z has launched a new website that's dedicated to his Hits Collection, Vol. 1, which is set for release on June 29. The somewhat barebones site features a slideshow of various Hova images along with a countdown clock and a sneak peek of the rather sleek Hits packaging. The main indicator of what you can expect is the little audio player at the top, which as Pitchfork noted includes a heavy amount of Blueprint 3 material like "Empire State of Mind" and "Run this Town."
Still, it's too early to call foul because judging by the packaging itself and considering Jay-Z's extensive back catalogue, we're hopeful that the hip-hop mogul has more in store to appease both longtime fans as well as newbies.
Yeah, apparently this was the point of his medley on SNL last weekend. It will definitely be a nice collection, but I'm just going to make my own, haha.
It'll probably be Hard Knock Life, Big Pimpin', H to the Izzo, + Blueprint 3
I'm betting we get like 3-4 tracks from the Black Album -- P.S.A., 99 Problems, and, at least, Dirt Off Your Shoulder.
slick looking site, though i'm not quite understanding the counter. we've heard all these songs before, what are we supposed to be anticipating 46 days 13 hours 5min and 27secs from now?
I was thinkin' the same, HIPoP. Maybe it will have some nice bonus features or something?
Oh yeah, I forgot 99 Problems and Dirt Off Your Shoulder. You know Blueprint 3 will feature heavily, but what are the chances of the songs that don't suck ball on there (say, "On to the Next One" and "Real As it Gets") actually end up on this?
I think "On to the Next One" will definitely be featured as it was released as a single...but yeah, damn, it's gonna be like that track, "Young Forever," "Run This Town," "Death of Auto-Tune," and "Empire State of Mind."
