Jay-Z and Rihanna will top the bill for the musical program associated with the London 2012 Olympic Games. The pair will appear at BBC Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend. The festival runs from June 23-24, one month before the Games begins, with Jay-Z headlining the first night and Rihanna headlining the second.
Located at London’s Hackney Marshes, the weekend will bring together over 100 musicians from around the world. Other acts include Florence + The Machine, Jessie J and will.i.am.
The festival is one of many cultural events taking place during the Olympics. “There will be absolutely something for everyone: from Beethoven to Jay-Z, from Shakespeare to Mike Leigh,” said British Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt. [HipHopDX]
