The NYPD may be nervous about big name rap acts appearing in outdoor spaces in New York after last week’s Drake show at South Street Seaport descended into chaos. Last night’s Jay-Z/Eminem match-up was subsequently moved to the roof of the Ed Sullivan Theater after originally being scheduled to take place in its marquee.
A combination of photographs snapped by nearby office workers and shaky camera phone videos confirms that the event did take place, the best of which is this set of pictures at Gothamist and the clip of “Renegade” above. Eminem went on to play a short set at Bowery Ballroom later last night, and the pair will team up again in the city for a show at Yankee Stadium on Sept. 13.
