Jarvis Cocker Appointed Editor-At-Large At Faber

Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker's relationship with publishing company Faber & Faber is extending beyond the release of his new book, Mother, Brother, Lover, which drops next week. They have named him the editor-at-large, which means he'll serve in a broad commissioning role that he hopes will lead to the creation of some great material. This appointment is not unlike when Faber brought on Pete Townshend to serve as editor-at-large in the 1980s.

Cocker said the following in a release, "I am proud, and more than a little excited, to be asked to work with Faber in an editorial capacity. It is my dearest hope that we will produce some fantastic books together." Some of those "fantastic books" just might be in-the-works novels from Will Oldham, Julian Cope, and the Pogues' James Fearnley.
