Janet Jackson Nipplegate Case Is Over

Do I even have to ask if you remember the Nipplegate controversy at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004? If you don't, here's a quick run down: Janet Jackson flashed a nipple during her halftime performance because of a, um, warddrobe malfunction. Said malfunction was caused by Justin Timberlake, who, like us, probably can't get the image out of his head.

Anyway, now that you're caught up, Reuters reports that the case against CBS surrounding the incident is officially over nearly eight years later. A U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia revealed its judgment today stating that the network doesn't have to pay $550,000 for Jackson's exposed breast. That amount stems from the fact that CBS's 20 stations fined the network $27,500 each.

Apparently the FCC isn't too happy about the decision. The group released a statement indicating its plans to use "all the authority at its disposal" to ensure that broadcasters serve the public interest when they use the public airwaves. Lulz. [Spin]
