Janet a Jick!

Via The Portland Mercury
It's an indie rock game of musical chairs, ya'll. Or, more accurately, musical drumkit stools. Fresh off Sleater-Kinney calling it quits (or calling it "indefinate hiatus," or whatever the kids call it these days), Janet Weiss will now (wo)man the skins for Stephen Malkmus' band, The Jicks. Why is that position empty, you may ask? Because extremely efficient (anyone who's ever seen the man set up for a concert will know what I'm talking about) stickman John Moen is now a full-time Decemberist.
Anything else coming out of all this shuffling around? Well, apparently Weiss will still be a member of Quasi with ex-hubby Sam Coomes. And no word yet on a new Jicks album any time soon. Steve-O does have a new baby, though, so he's got bigger fish to fry.

Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks have added to their already-announced small handful of mostly Arizona-based dates with more gigs all up and down the western seabord, including California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. The band’s only confirmed date after this January jaunt/east of the Mississippi is at Langerado in March. This will be most fans’ first chance to catch the new incarnation of the Jicks with Janet Weiss behind the drums. Dates and venues after the jump…1/5/07 San Francisco Bimbo’s [...]
