Original Jane's Addiction lineup to perform at NME Awards

Apparently, all it takes is calling a band's original members Godlike Geniuses and they'll return the favor and reunite. Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery hasn't played with Farrell, Navarro and Perkins since 1991, despite the latter trio's on-again, off-again relationship over the years.  But that all changes on April 23. The original Jane's will play at the first annual U.S. NME Awards show at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, where the band will receive the Godlike Genius Award.

But don't think this will lead to some sort of attempt by Avery to cash in now, honey. It's definitely a one-night-only thing. "I've chosen to reject the prospects of reuniting in the past for personal and philosophical reasons. I have always considered reunions to be a way to make a quick buck, and it sells short my own experience of it the first time around," Avery said. "The reason I started to even consider this is because it's honoring the past instead of trying to recreate it."
