Jane’s Addiction Recording New Album With Mystery Bassist, Duff McKagan Rumored As Said Mystery

Two weeks ago, it was reported that Jane’s Addiction, who last year reunited for a lengthy tour, were in the studio working on new material. It was reported then that is was the four original members, but apparently Eric Avery has left the band for the 435th time, but the band is still recording new music with a “mystery bassist” who hasn’t been publicly announced. The Internet rumor mill has pumped out Duff McKagan as the likeliest of replacements for Avery, since his dance card is clear and he and the band are apparently friends (he played with Dave Navarro in a covers bad).

If the rumors are true, it won’t be the first time Jane’s has linked up with a famous bassist: Flea of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers played with the band through the mid-’90s. [Spinner]
