These kind of stories are why god made the NME: Jamie xx recently told Q, in oblique terms, that he passed on the opportunity to work with The Streets on his most recent album, opting out of the project because "it didn't seem like it was a good idea." Which lead the NME to report this thing like a potential beef-starter:
Although he didn’t go into much detail about why he rejected Skinner’s offer, the producer did claim to be a fan of The Streets. He said that the band's debut album, 'Original Pirate Material', was one of his favourite records. Smith told Q: “Mike Skinner wanted to go in the studio together for his new album, but I said no. It didn't feel like it was a good idea. But I was chuffed that he liked our music."
So there you have it! Jamie xx didn't want to work with the Streets, BUT he likes his old albums. It's like Jay-Z vs. that one dude from Oasis again! Fite! [NME]
haha. yeah NME always starts the beefin or at least fuels it
