Jamie Foxx May Play Villain Electro In ‘Spider-Man 2’

They say the reason some superheroes are so popular is because they have the coolest villains. This is surely the case with Batman, who’s always got to fight the Joker, the Riddler, Bane, Catwoman, and plenty of other rogues.

It’s also true for Spider-Man. The web-slinger doesn’t have one particular nemesis, but he’s got plenty of bad guys to fight among the skyscrapers of New York. In the original Sam Raimi trilogy, he already faced off against the Green Goblin, Dr. Octopus, Sandman and Venom.

That still leaves plenty of foes, like Kraven the Hunter, the Jackal, Hobgoblin, Carnage, the Vulture, Scorpion and many more twisted and deformed evil-doers.

According to Variety, the next bad guy to be featured in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2 is going to be a cool one — Electro. However, what’s most cool about him is that he’ll apparently be played by Jamie Foxx.

The news source reports that the star of Ray and Any Given Sunday will take the role of the electrically themed villain, although his backstory hasn’t yet been revealed. Like most comic characters, his origin has been changed numerous times, and it isn’t likely that he’ll be a straight-up bad guy given the sympathetic treatment Dr. Curt Connors (AKA the Lizard) was given in The Amazing Spider-Man
