Long after James Murphy's LCD Soundsystem played its last show, the former frontman is back in entertainment. Only this time, he's taking a shot at the world of film.
According to Rolling Stone, Murphy is in the works of making his directorial debut on a short film, with oversight from Ron Howard. "I don't know what I'm doing, but that's what I'm excited about," he said. The film is part of a series of shorts that will be inspired by winning photography submissions in a contest sponsored by Canon.
Murphy has been on this path of exploration ever since he decided to end LCD Soundsystem. "I'm in this absurdly privileged spot by being in a band but not so famous that it makes me feel weird," he said. Apart from film, the electronica guru has also dabbled in the world of literature and cousine, as well as re-emerging in the music scene. "I'm not going to curl up and die. I'm doing things that I would never have time to do, like go work on a couple song with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs," he said.
It's exciting to see such a talented person sticking out his feelers. It will be interesting to see what's next for James Murphy.
