James Cameron's Music Video From The '80s Isn't As Stupid As 'Avatar' (Video)

When you ask the Internet to deliver you things, it can come through in a big way: Here's a video for a short-lived music group called Martini Ranch, which featured the Bill Paxton, that was directed by James "I Make Movies About Aliens With Dicks In Their Ponytails" Cameron and his then wife, Kathyrn "I Make Okay Movies Called The Hurt Locker" Bigelow. This is basically a grindhouse movie with a worse soundtrack and too much Bill Paxton and not enough Judge Reinhold. I wish I could visit Martini Ranch. Not. At least this is better than Avatar. ahaha, at most you could say the movie ain't very good, specially with all the hype surrounding it. I would disagree, but would make sense. Saying the movie is terrible just doesn't compute at all. What is terrible about it? Having a classical non original story that is not the point of the movie at all? Being the biggest leap in the arts advancements for visual storytelling in years? Creating for the first time an environment in which the 3d characters are actually acting, not just jar-jar-bibiking? Creating a world of endless possibilities for fantasy storytelling, since now you can create real deep characters out of anything (as soon as the technology gets way cheaper, and it will)?

In that way yeah, it's terrible. Horrible. Worst 8 dollars ever spent. Who gives a crap about cinema history, i didn't like the story, it was Pocahontas....

See, I guess we have different expectations re: movies. Technical achievements only get me tumescent to a point; if the story is Dances With Wolves in Space, the fact that the 3D is sort of cool doesn't matter. There wasn't even a firm point to that movie, I mean, okay, we're supposed to enjoy being in a world, but the story isn't important? That's an amusement park ride, not a film.

Sometimes the story isn't important, yes, exactly. And I'm a script writer, so story really is important to me. In doubt, ask yourself: who was more relevant for the development of the language of cinema: Michael Curtiz, Griffith or Melies? Casablanca, Birth of a Nation or Voyage To The Moon?

Tip: all of them.

wait what? you only spent 8 bucks on that?

ahah, I'm in Portugal. 8 bucks it's actually pretty expensive for a movie. There were riots on the streets.

Haha, what a bunch of idiots! Cinema is entertainment by definition, and Cameron is the God of that kind of cinema. If you don't understand that... why do you even bother going to the movies? Better stay home jerking off to some whore on the internet, I'm sure you're very good at that.
