James Blunt Won't Let Weird Al Parody Him on Greatest Hits Compilation

Weird Al Yankovic, he of song parody semi-fame, is readying a two-disc greatest hits compilation, and while gathering up songs from his nearly 30 year career (!) he was notified by James Blunt's people that Al could not use "You're Pitiful" (a parody of James Blunt's "You're Beautiful") on the compilation, because James Blunt is above song parodies because his career isn't a joke (yes it is).

Al made a big deal about the snub on his Twitter, but the real news here is that Al's greatest hits album won't be blessed by the really quite terrible "You're Pitiful." [Perez Hilton]

..besides that would be horrible abuse of the term "greatest hits."

Yes... yes, I'm sure when all is said and done, James Blunt will have a MUCH longer, more illustrious career than this fly-by-night Yankovic fellow.... just because he's been around for 30 years and sold millions upon millions of records, and outlasted and outsold nearly everyone he's parodied, what right does he have to think he's had any "greatest hits"?? Just who does he think he is, anyway?? The nerve!!

First, it's ironic that Perez Hilton used the phrase "semi-fame" to describe Weird Al. Second, it was Blunt's label that refuses to allow Weird Al to release the track, Blunt was actually fine with it. Oh well you can download for free from Al's web-site.
