Canadian weird-rockers Women have signed to Jagjaguwar (home of many of your favorite indie bands, like Okkervil River, Bon Iver, Oneida, Black Mountain, and so forth). Women fit in with Jagjaguwar's generally earthy stable, but they have a lo-fi twist that's new for the label. Evidence? Chad VanGaalen (Sub Pop, Flemish Eye), using ghettoblasters and old tape machines, recorded this self-titled debut album in a basement, an outdoor culvert, and a crawlspace .
