Marlon's stocking shelves at a supermarket. Randy's doing odd jobs such as fixing cars in a Los Angeles garage of a family friend. Jackie is banking on his son's dubious rap career after a failed Internet clothing company. Jermaine bounces between staying with his girlfriend and couch surfing at his elderly parents' mansion. And Tito (get me a tissue) Jackson is the only brother still performing, fronting a blues and jazz band that plays the occasional gig. We know what you're thinking, "Can someone say 'reality show?'"
Financial-wise, times are tough for the Jackson brothers less Michael. Everything's daisies for him in Bahrain while on his self-imposed exile. But the New York Post paints quite a different picture for his brothers who say M.J.'s been stiffing them for years despite repeated promises that they'll do a reunion tour to pull them out of their respective holes. The Post reports that the Jackson, er, boys -- they range in age from the mid-forties to mid-fifties -- can't put all the blame on Mike. They squandered their fortunes and made some bad personal and professional decisions. Still, Michael signed his brothers to his label, but refused to release any of their music.
"Michael's mission was to make sure his family was broke, and he accomplished that through the industry, which mostly kowtowed to him," Bob Jones, former director of communications for Jackson, told the Post. "We were always ordered by Michael to keep his family away from his offices and out of his business...He hated them. He wanted them broke. Michael even refusted to allow Jermaine, who had come over to Europe to see one of Michael's concerts about a decade ago, to guest on 'I'll Be There.'"
Ouch, now that's cold for you.
