Jack White just can’t keep out of the news at the present time. His Dead Weather project and new Nashville studio, Third Man, have garnered plenty of column inches, and a British ice cream company has allegedly ripped off the White Stripes’ “My Doorbell.” He also recently celebrated the opening of his own record store, Third Man Records, which is also in Nashville.
Now White has teamed up with Bloodshot Records artists the Dex Romweber Duo to release a 7-inch single he recorded with the band. White also added a few personal touches to the single, contributing guitar, vocals, bass and bowed saw.
The single is part of a proposed “Blue Series” to be released trough Third Man, which is so-called because each pressing will feature a blue-background photo of the artist involved. Sara Romweber says White was enthused to be working with her brother, Dex Romweber, whose guitar sound he has often admired: "Jack had the biggest smile on his face,” she says, speaking about the recording session. “And he turned to me and said, ‘You have no idea how long I’ve waited to hear that guitar tone in my studio.’”
