Jack White, Official United States Halloween Ambassador

The Dead Weather played a Halloween show at Shoreditch Church in England, but before taking the stage the band sat down for this interview. After watching, a couple of things become apparent about the band. The first is that Jack White has obviously taken the role of band president, otherwise he'd let another band member field at least one question. At no point, however, does he turn to his left or right and ask Alison Mossheart or Dean Fertia to answer one of the ridiculous softballs thrown at him. The second is that, given his comments about Halloween, he believes that England is populated by Martians. Throughout the interview, he says he doesn't know how "things are done in this country" regarding Halloween, as if he's the Great Pumpkin's first missionary. It's not like Halloween is nation specific, like Guy Fawkes Day. And failing that, the people of England could easily do some Internet research about the strange customs over here in the colonies. Near the end of the interview, White does offer his usual cryptic announcements of new albums, but confirms that a second Dead Weather album is in the works. That's sure to be a treat. [NME]
