In the wake of last week's flooding that left several dead and Nashville institutions like the Grand Ole Opry underwater, hometown heroes have come together to support relief efforts in Music City. Among them are Tennessee-bred Kings of Leon and Jack White, whose Third Man label is based in Nashville and whose entire staff will be helping in the clean-up efforts.
KoL's drummer Nathan Followill meanwhile is calling on tourists to continue visiting Nashville and tells the Guardian, "Nashvillians are strong so I definitely think we will recover stronger than ever." Of course, established rockers aren't the only ones pitching in as pop stars like fellow Nashville native K$sha are lending a helping hand. The "Tik Tok" singer donated 1,000 pounds of pet food to an animal shelter and will be playing a benefit gig while Taylor Swift pledged $500,000 to the flood relief. [via Spinner]
