Jack White: “I’d Make A White Stripes Record Right Now”

Ooh, hate to pull your leg like that, but it doesn’t look like the White Stripes are doing anything other than releasing a couple old singles for Record Store Day. That Jack White quote is pulled from his recent New York Times profile, which, among other things, laid the cards out as much as possible in regards to the future of the former family band. Here is a choice quote.

I’d be in the White Stripes for the rest of my life. That band is the most challenging, important, fulfilling thing ever to happen to me. I wish it was still here. It’s something I really, really miss.

Then why no new music from the duo, you ask? Well, it apparently has to do with the twosome’s true ringleader, Meg White.

I don’t know what her reasons are. Having a conversation with Meg, you don’t really get any answers. I’m lucky that girl ever got onstage, so I’ll take what I can get.

So will we. And on April 24, we’ll take White’s new solo album, Blunderbuss, as it seems there really is “absolutely no chance” for the Stripes.  [Spin]
