Today sees the release of The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams, a new compilation that finds the likes of Lucinda Williams, Patty Loveless, Bob Dylan, Levon Helm and others covering unreleased Hank Williams songs. Amongst those "others" is Jack White, whose interpretation of "You Know That I Know," is now streaming at Rolling Stone. White hasn't really tried out this kind of straight country folk, and he does a damn fine job: The guitar solo even sounds like it was an unwritten Hank Williams guitar solo. If White never gets back together with Meg White, we fully endorse this idea of him just reinterpreting long-lost songs.
