In an interview for this month's MOJO, Third Man Records founder Jack White shed light on a few things we can expect to hear from the Nashville label this year. Of all you could guess, though, would a collaboration with Welsh singer Tom Jones be at the top of the list? Maybe. White is the guy who recorded a Mozart cover with Insane Clown Posse. Nevertheless, the former White Stripe is reportedly working with Jones on a cover of Howlin' Wolf's 1954 song , "Evil (Is Going On)." The track will appear as part of Third Man's ongoing Blue Series.
The label is also planning to reissue some records by a number of early blues artists that have influenced White. "Remastered, redesigned" LPs by Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell and the Mississippi Sheiks will be released on "high-quality vinyl" in conjunction with Document Records, a historical preservation label of vintage jazz and blues. Should be an interesting year for Third Man--in the meantime, you can listen to The White Stripes' cover of Blind Willie McTell's "Your Southern Can iss Mine" below. [24Bit]
