Ja Rule Pleads Guilty To Tax Evasion

The last few months haven’t been kind to Ja Rule, what with his having been sentenced to two years in jail on gun possession charges last December. Now, it seems, there’s even more bad news on the horizon. The rapper pleaded guilty to tax evasion in a New Jersey federal court on Tuesday, and promised to pay the feds about $1.1 million he owes to the IRS. It seems that he failed to file taxes from 2004 to 2008, and is now facing yet another round of sentencing — up to a year on each count with which he’s being charged. For now, Ja Rule’s out on bail, and is due back in court in June — the same month he’s supposed to begin serving his time for the aforementioned gun case. [Billboard]
