J Mascis Announces Solo Tour To Promote ‘Several Shades Of Why’

J Mascis has had a busy time of late, with the reactivated Dinosaur Jr. rushing headlong into their recording and touring career, his dual work with side band the Fog, and now a full-blown solo record. Mascis will release Several Shades of Why on Sub Pop on March 15, and has just announced a tour to promote it.

This will be Mascis’ first solo release, and it’s almost all acoustic according to the Sub Pop press release. Guests include Kurt Vile, Kevin Drew, and Ben Bridewell, so this is likely to reach beyond the singer’s hardcore fanbase and may even up his popularity by a notch or two (which will no doubt be met by a big shrug by the man himself).
