The cool dads at Apple must know that not everybody wants to wade through JoBros and Akon and the Black Eyed Peas to get to the stuff they want on iTunes. Especially not metal fans in search of the new Kylsea album. Thus, the just-launched iTunes Metal Store.
Which sounds promising, until you get as far as the front page and see an ad for a Rob Halford Christmas album. OK, so it's not Apple's fault that the lead singer of Judas Priest is apparently feeling the spirit of the season. But a little more digging raises some red flags that we can only hope are the result of a beta bug: The album and song charts are the charts for the "rock" page, and they have Rod Stewart's Songbook at No. 7 and OneRepublic's "Secrets" at No. 1, respectively. Regardless of whether or not those artists are "rock," they're definitely not metal.
The new "store" has been out less than a day, so we'll let these transgressions slide, and hope that ample fixes are made swiftly. We just hope they make sure Jethro Tull doesn't sneak into the Metal Store at some point; Metallica fans will be pissed.
