So Apple, if Vista is so much like Mac OS X, why doesn't iTunes run on it?Some mild side effects of running iTunes on Vista include an inability to play songs purchased through iTunes, and an occasional corruption of one's iPod player when using the "Safely Remove Hardware" feature of Vista. Apple's response to all this has been to say, hold off on installing Vista. Convenient. They also released a tool appropriately titled "iTunes Repair Tool for Vista 1.0". It comes in white, orange, and lime.
iTunes 7.1 addresses some compatibility issues, but apparently not the hardware removal. Read this page for details, but basically you should use the "Eject iPod" command within iTunes rather than Vista's native tool. Also, if you're crazy like me and run the cutting edge 64-bit Vista, iTunes won't work at all. So you've got nothing to worry about!
7.1 also adds full screen CoverFlow, so you can better hypnotize yourself by staring at images of your album covers.
