It's a Family affair!

In news that makes the recent Kraftwerk mini-tour announcement seem like yesterday's TV listings, Sly & the Family Stone have let it be known that the world will witness their funk-rockin' magic in person on a four-date spring jaunt. Of course, if you live outside the vicinity of CA, MN, or IL it's either fly the friendly skies or you're S.O.L., but let's not overlook the historic nature of this occurrence! Ever since he disappeared into a wormhole of illicit substances and bad mojo sometime in the mid-'70s, Sly has not exactly been nominated for Mr. Ubiquity of any year.

With a public profile somewhere between Bill Withers (don't hold your breath for that guy to hit the road either) and J.D. Salinger, the legend of Sylvester Stewart grew to near -mythical proportions. Waiting for him to pop up became about as advisable as camping outside your local music store to be the first on line for the new My Bloody Valentine album. Nevertheless, there have been those tantalizing-but-rare sightings. There's Sly sporting a wacko hairdo at an award show! Hey, he's scheduling a handful of European dates! At this point, we need to take what we can get from the man whose boom-shaka-laka can make us "dance to the music" like no one else.

Here are the dates, snooze=lose:

04-25 Anaheim, CA - House of Blues

04-26 Los Angeles, CA - House of Blues Sunset Strip
05-02 Minneapolis, MN - First Avenue

05-03 Chicago, IL - Vic Theatre
