Israel indies meet VIRV TV

Stop what you’re doing and check out VIRV TV right this very minute…well, okay, you can finish your sandwich first…and you’ll probably want to wipe the mustard off your fingers. But after that, avail yourself of the special program the new online music-video channel is running this weekend. Through tomorrow you can check out the fruits of VIRV’s recent labors in Israel, where they filmed the coming-out party for new Israeli indie label Anova Music.

You can experience Israel’s addition to the freak-folk canon, psych chanteuse Noa Babayof, whose album From a Window to a Wall is also set for release in the U.S. on Espers leader Greg Weeks’ label Language of Stone on June 17, and dig Israeli psych-pop kings Rockfour, who have already graced U.S. record stores courtesy of the Rainbow Quartz label. World music isn’t just for NPR addicts anymore.
