Islands set to record new album

In a post on the band's Web site, frontman Nick Thorburn (no Diamonds alias anymore, more on that later) has announced that the band is ready to enter the studio in February to record the follow-up to Return to the Sea. According to Thorburn, the songs set to appear on the album are "10 minutes long with innumerable key & tempo changes, modulation, [and] genre-meddling bombastic progressive rock existential death-defying dangerousness."
As for dropping the alias, Thorburn states that he would have done so sooner if not for the following reason: "I thought it would be weird to sing a song like Rough Gem (which I've since disowned) without such a glittery, jewel-encrusted nom de plume."

I dunno man, I still miss the Unicorns. Now that they've disowned the most Unicorn-y song from the roster and are fleeing in the other direction, I care less and less. What's Alden Penner up to?

I think Thorburn is a glitterier name than Diamonds, anyway.

I've only heard 2 songs that Alden did after the Unicorns, but they were pretty great.

I wish alden and nick and jamie were still collaborating.if you listen to their music before and after they split up its easy to see where they seperate. and I've heard jamie isn't going to make any music at all any more.I'd still like to meet all of them.i'm ecstatic about their work as the unicorns.islands is also good.but different.
