Isaac Hayes Gets His Own Highway

Tennessee’s I-40 is about to become the most soulful stretch of highway in America: Stax legend Isaac Hayes is getting a stretch of I-40– from Fayette-Shelby County Line to Sam Cooper Boulevard–named after him. The highway is meant to honor Hayes’ contribution to Tennessee’s musical history (he lived in Memphis for a lot of his career/life). Hayes died in 2008 from a stroke, but his family and friends will be at the naming celebration on Friday. [Go Memphis]
