Is There A 'Shining' Prequel In The Works?

Apparently not much is sacred in the movie business, not even Stanley Kubrick’s horror classic The Shining. Three decades later, Warner Bros is apparently considering a prequel to the 1980 film. While things are still pretty up in the air, there are a few writer/producers tied to the project: Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar), Bradley Fischer (Black Swan) and James Varderbilt (Zodiac).

There’s no word yet on the prequel’s potential subject, be it a look at young Jack Torrance, the origin of the Overlook Hotel, the story of former caretaker-turned-axe murderer Grady or something else entirely. Which one would make Kubrick spin in his grave the least? Let us know what you think in the comments below. [Empire]
