Is MGMT Allowing Audio Recording At Their Shows?

Those looking to follow MGMT around on tour, recording each of their shows and releasing them as bootlegs, the time is now.

According to NME, a post on MGMT's official website and MySpace read as follows:

"Audio recording is now allowed at shows. In each venue, there will be a taping section. You must record the show from this section and not outside of it. This section in most situations will be located by the soundboard. In reserved seating and other unique situations you will be asked to keep your microphones at head level."

Mysteriously, the post has disappeard from both the website and MySpace. This is probably due to their record label, Columbia, "gently" reminding the band that bootlegging concerts is illegal when entered into a record contract, and that the value of the band releasing a live album through their label would be greatly diminished.

But, with a band like MGMT, every jam session is like a beautiful snowflake to the musicians and their fans, so until they release a statement saying otherwise, it may as well be open season for MGMT fans.
